HNL !!! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?
Who in the hell do Hockey Nl think they are. The rumours on where the Herder Final would be played have been smouldering for a number of years like a tempest in a teapot. Is this what the Herders had in mind to only play in St John's and Corner Brook? I think not. If we all had a major infusion of Government cash we all could have large arenas but we don’t. The Herder Memorial Trophy playoffs were held in St. John's for the first six years of competition, one of the stipulations with which the trophy was donated. In 1941, the late J.M. Herder, then director of The Evening Telegram, requested the NAHA to lift that stipulation so the playoffs could be held in other areas of the province. The Cataracts and Grand Falls-Windsor have just a rich history as anyone in this Province. Cataracts games are sold-out night after night. The sponsors, fans, and volunteers are working 365 days a year to keep this team afloat. So why is HNL trying to force them out of the league. If Corner Brook and the other teams want to operate in this league they should be willing to get in the trenches and work their butts of selling tickets and whatever is necessary to achieve it. Put their tickets up to 14 dollars and sell holding seats this is what the Cataracts had to do. It is a cash cow for HNL, more bums in the stands higher take for them. HNL can't expect fans to support their team all year and then have to go to St John's or Corner Brook taking revenue away from their Community and Sponsors that supports them each year. Someone on this executive needs a good dose of common sense to strike them in the face. The fans of Mount Pearl to Mile One and Corner Brook fans to the Pepsi Center no travel. The Cee Bees, about 50 minutes and Clarnville about 2 hours from Mile-One. The Cataracts fans 5 hours to St John’s on a good day and 3 and a half hour to Corner Brook. Maybe just maybe retire the Herder and tell HNL just where they can go. It is a shame this garbage is going on. Go Cats Go!!!
