Here it is now almost the middle of January and there is very little if any news regarding the proposed Motel on the mighty Exploits River Bank. When we talk river bank it can become misleading as it is closer to Scott Avenue then the River. Over the course of the last couple of years talks have taken place with a hotel developer along with past and present councils. Everything looked so promising until it was made public. There was a small but yet vocal group who were stirring the pot trying to stop such a development. Riverfront developments have worked in many jurisdictions so why such a stir here in Grand Falls-Windsor. A motel development will only enhance and promote the river and bring tourist to Grand Falls-Windsor and the Central area. Are we becoming our own worse enemies when it comes to moving this town forward? Do some people have it in for whatever council try to do? There were unsubstantiated reports that the area was contaminated and unusable. Because of all the malarkey that has been going on, is the company now looking elsewhere?
